SYMPTOM

When you try to e-mail forms from Point, an error appears: "DriverInit Failed"

CAUSES

• The Amyuni printer driver is not installed.
• A fax program or other program is causing a conflict with Point.

Note: You may need to manually install the Amyuni printer driver. (see below)

RESOLUTION

The Amyuni printer driver is not installed

1. Go to My Computer.
2. Double-click on Local Disk C:
3. Double-click the Winpoint folder
   
   
   • For Windows XP: Double-click the pdfinstall.exe file.
   • For Windows Vista / 7: Right-click the pdfinstall.exe file and select Run as Administrator
     
     
4. This opens a small window to install the Amyuni driver. When the Amyuni installation completes without any errors, try Point again. 

Errors that can occur during the Amyuni Installation:

• Error Code 126 Specified module could not be found and Error Code 1797 Printer unknown, Click Here
• Error Code 997 Overlapping I/O in progress, Click Here

A fax program or other program installed is causing a conflict with Point

1. From the desktop, select Start > Run.
2. In the Open field, enter msconfig and click OK.
3. From the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
4. Uncheck all items and click OK.
5. Restart your computer.
6. When you have restarted, go to the C: drive and open the WINPOINT folder.
7. Double-click the install.exe file.
8. When you run install.exe and it generates no errors, try Point again.
9. Enable your startup items by going to the desktop and selecting Start > Run.
10. In the Open field, enter msconfig and click OK.
11. Click the Startup tab.
12. Insert a check in all the boxes and click OK.
13. Restart your system.
14. If disabling startup items works and enabling startup items causes Point to fail, disable three startup items at a time until you find the program that causes the conflict with Point.
15. Disable the conflicting item. Enable the other startup items.

Manually install the Amyuni printer driver. This is usually helpful if pdfinstall.exe gives you errors you are not able to resolve, thus the Amyuni printer driver is not installed correctly.

Note: Windows 2000 and XP require that you have Administrator rights to install printers.

Windows XP Professional/Home Edition Installation

Close Point.

1. Click here to download the oemsetup.inf driver.
2. Click Save to save the oemsetup.inf file to the C:WINPOINT directory.
3. From the desktop, select Start > Settings, or open the Control Panel.
4. Double-click Printers and Faxes.
5. Verify that you do not have a PDF Converter printer in your printer's folder.
6. In the Printers and Faxes window, double-click Add Printer.
7. In the Add Printer Wizard window, click Next.
8. In the next window, select Local printer attached to this computer.
9. Remove the check in the Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer checkbox.
10. Click Next.
11. In the Use the following port dropdown list, select LPT1: Recommended Printer Port. If LPT1 port is not available, install the printer to any existing COM or USB port.
12. Click Next.
13. In the Install Printer Software window, click Have Disk.
14. Click Browse to find the copied oemsetup.inf file.
15. Select the file, then click OK.
16. The Install Printer Software window opens. The default name is PDF Compatible Printer Driver. Change the printer name to one of those listed below.
    
    IMPORTANT:  The printer name must match the following:  

    Point 5.2 and below: Amyuni Document Converter
    Point 5.3 and above: Calyx Document Converter 

17. In the Name your printer window, select No to the question “Do you want to use this printer as the default printer?”
18. Click Next.
19. In the Printer Sharing window, select Do not share printer and click Next.
20. In the Print Test Page window, click No and click Next.
21. Click Finish.
22. You are prompted with a message that says "The driver has not passed Windows logo testing.” Click the Continue Anyway button.

Windows 2000 Installation

1. Close Point.
2. Click here download the oemsetup.inf driver.
3. Click Save and save the oemsetup.inf file to C:WINPOINT.
4. From the desktop, select Start > Settings or open the Control Panel
5. Double-click Printers.
6. Verify that you do not have a PDF Converter printer in your printer's folder.
7. In the Printers window, double-click Add Printer.
8. In the Add Printer Wizard window, click Next.
9. Select Local printer.
10. Remove the check in the Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer checkbox.
11. Click Next.
12. Select LPT1: Printer Port. If LPT1 port is unavailable, install the printer to any existing COM or USB port.
13. Click Next.
14. In the Add Printer Wizard window, click Have Disk.
15. Click Browse to the copied oemsetup.inf file. Select the file then click OK.
16. The Name your Printer window opens. The default name is PDF Compatible Printer.
17. Change the printer name to one of those listed below: 

    IMPORTANT:  The printer name must match the following:  

    Point 5.2 and below: Amyuni Document converter
    Point 5.3 and above: Calyx Document Converter

18. In Printer Sharing, select Do not share printer and click Next.
19. Select No to printing a test page.
20. Click Next.
21. Click Finish.
22. You are prompted with a message that says "The driver has not passed Windows logo testing.”
23. Click the Yes button.
