0918 Windows update affecting connectivity in Point and Point Central

SYMPTOM

Changes made in Point Administrator do not take effect in Point. This can occur when Point is installed on Windows 7, 8/8.1, or 10.

CAUSE

A windows update prevented the winpoint.ini file from updating properly.


RESOLUTION

Run Point as an Administrator

6003 Running Point as an administrator

Rename the winpoint.ini file from the virtual store and assign full control access to the winpoint.ini file in the Windows folder.
